Tauranga and Mt Maunganui
are located 2hrs 30mins south of Auckland on the East Coast of the North Island. Tauranga
has a sub-tropical climate and is surrounded by a picturesque harbour ideal for
windsurfing, with grassy areas excellent for rigging, nice sandy bottom,
shallow sheltered
spots for beginners, small rolling swells and chop for intermediate to experts.
The most
popular spots are Fergusson Park, Kulim Park or Sulphur Point on the low tide.
Across the harbour bridge are the sparkling white sand Pacific Ocean beaches
of Mt Maunganui, Papamoa, and Maketu, with large rolling surf ideal for waveriding and
jumping for intermediate to experts.

direction except a direct Southerly.
